Innovative Research Program on Suicide CountermeasuresInnovative Research Program on Suicide Countermeasures

Promoting practical research and policy studies leading to swift countermeasure policy recommendations

The Innovative Research Program on Suicide Countermeasures is a comprehensive research program on suicide countermeasures jointly established in 2017 by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Japan Support Center for Suicide Countermeasures (JSSC). This research project, as outlined in the General Principles of Suicide Prevention Policy, spans across both public and private sectors.
This program promotes research that contributes to both the creation of policies based on scientific evidence as well as society more broadly to help drive measures for a society where no one is driven to suicide. Additionally, in light of the fact that suicide has diverse and complex causes and backgrounds, we aim to strengthen the academic foundation from an interdisciplinary and international perspective, including how to collaborate not only with healthcare but also with other sectors, and to contribute back to Japanese society and policy, whilst paying attention to international trends.

Commissioning research

In order to further promote suicide countermeasures, and to create an environment for conducting the research necessary to achieve these measures in a comprehensive and effective manner, we commission through public openings for researchers in fields related to suicide countermeasures. Information regarding these openings are listed under News.
